Artisan miners attacked Indonesia’s state-owned PT Aneka Tambang (Antam)’s gold mine in Pongkor, West Java, on September 19, though mining and gold processing activities have not been affected, a company spokesman told MB

The disturbance erupted when the miners confronted local police after they had conducted a joint security operation on illegal gold mining activities, the spokesman said. Forty four miners alleged to be involved in illegal activities were taken for questioning by the authorities.
