UK stainless scrap prices increased again on firming of demand and continued strength in the nickel price, market participants told MB

Although mills are ordering more scrap than earlier in the year, a shortage of material is making it difficult for stainless scrap processors to deliver stock, which, in turn, means getting squeezed by merchants who still have scrap to sell, they added. “There is some strength in the market: mills are paying reasonable prices and ordering bigger quantities than they have been, but we can’t supply enough for the stainless steel they are producing due to the shortage of scrap....
