(AMM) USS, ArcelorMittal said set to hike flat-roll tags

PITTSBURGH 01 July 2009 22:02

U.S. steel producers, emboldened by the success of two previously announced price hikes, are announcing additional increases on carbon flat-rolled products for September shipments, according to market sources.

Several buyer sources said Wednesday they had been informed by U.S. Steel Corp., Pittsburgh, of its intent to increase flat-rolled prices to $500 per ton ($25 per hundredweight) for hot-rolled sheet and $600 per ton ($30 per cwt) for cold-rolled sheet. Its base price for hot-dip galvanized sheet would move up to $620 per ton ($31 per cwt) while Galvalume sheet would go to $640 per ton ($32 per cwt).

Those prices all would be up about $40 per ton ($2 per cwt) from those announced during mill price increases made two weeks ago for August shipments.
