(AMM) Aleris loss widens despite higher revenue

Aleris International Inc. posted a worldwide net loss of $24.3 million in May, up 5 percent from $23.1 million the previous month, despite an 11-percent jump in gross revenue to $235.2 million from $211.3 million in the same comparison.

The figures include foreign operations, which aren't covered by the Chapter 11 filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. The negative bottom line was the combined outcome of a $38.3-million loss for the U.S. operations under Chapter 11...
