Europe Minerals was founded in 1997 as Rhino Minerals (Europe) BV, in co-operation with andalusite producer Rhino Minerals Pty South Africa (today managed by Damrec), Eggerding Holding BV and Hans-Jurgen Reiprich, former managing director of Europe Minerals.

In 1999, Europe Minerals added a third product to its portfolio by acquiring the Molochite clay business of ECC International - today a subsidiary of Imerys. Eggerding acquired 100% of Europe Minerals on 1 January 2009.
The company operates worldwide, but focuses on Europe in addition to the Middle East, South and Central America and North Africa.
