A Houston automotive scrap buyer is suing a well-known figure in the automotive recycling industry and his companies, alleging that he sent e-mails to customers in an intentional effort to harm its reputation.

The lawsuit, seeking more than $500,000 in damages, was filed by TXCAT against Jay Robie, Phoenix Group Metals LLC, Phoenix Automotive LLC, and CMS/Morrell Holdings LLC. Charges include libel, business disparagement and tortious interference with prospective business relations and existing customers.
