Shanghai copper fell 1.2% as softening US consumer confidence brought forward expectations of a rate hike.

Benchmark June copper ended at 58,320 yuan ($8,528) per tonne, down 730 yuan from the previous close, after tumbling to 57,650 yuan per tonne during the session.
