Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) is stepping in line with a price hike on wide-flange beams that kicked off earlier this week, saying it will increase tags by $50 per ton on April 1.
SDI's Structural and Rail Division in Columbia City, Ind., which said it will boost all beams and channels by $2.50 per hundredweight, pointed out in a letter to customers that the increase "does not reflect a large demand spike but rather a significant rise in the cost of key steelmaking inputs."
