(AMM) No big pickup seen in construction: NCI Building Systems

NCI Building Systems Inc. does not anticipate "any meaningful pickup in nonresidential construction activity in 2010," according to chairman, president and chief executive officer Norman C. Chambers.

Citing industry forecasts and its own field intelligence, Chambers said the company?a competitor of Gibraltar Industries Inc., Quanex Corp. and BlueScope Building Solutions?does expect a seasonal increase in demand similar to what it experienced last year.

"Within this environment, we believe that NCI has important opportunities to achieve profitable operating results. Our focus remains on retaining and building on our market leadership positions in our three business segments," he said, referring to metal coil coating, metal components and engineered building systems.
