(AMM) Sudbury strikers reject Vale contract offer

Striking workers at Vale Inco Ltd's operations in Sudbury, Ontario, decisively rejected a contract offer, with about 90 percent of United Steelworkers union members voting against the proposal.

The result was largely expected because the USW negotiating team strongly opposed the five-year offer, which included a revised bonus that kicks in at $3.50-per-pound nickel, amended benefit and pension plans, cost-of-living increases and a Canadian $3,000 ($2,900) bonus...
