(AMM) West Coast flat-roll outlook turns bullish; mills plan hikes

The immediate price outlook for flat-rolled carbon steel has once again turned bullish on the West Coast as both of the region's major producers plan hikes of as much as $60 per ton.
California Steel Industries Inc. (CSI) has told its customers that it will raise hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized sheet by up to $60 per ton ($3 per hundredweight) in May, although increases may differ according to market conditions for each product and what buyers were already paying.
USS-Posco Industries (UPI), Pittsburg, Calif., has informed customers it plans a $60-per-ton May increase on cold-rolled and galvanized sheet, according to market sources.
The hikes would bring hot-rolled to an estimated range of $34.50 to $35.50 per cwt, cold-rolled to $37.50 to $38.50 per cwt and hot-dip galvanized to a...
