End of “cap and collar” spells market freedom for high grade TiO2 feedstocks
Rutile is predominantly sold into pigment manufacture, but is also used as the main feed source for electrodes in titanium metal production.
In 2011, Iluka will see the full contribution of the new Jacinth-Ambrosia and Murray Basin operations, which are predominantly rutile and zircon, after the recent closure of Eneabba (IM 14 April 2010: Iluka shuts Eneabba production)....
