(AMM) Jobs picture brightens but consumer sentiment retreats

Nonfarm private employment increased by 32,000 last month on a seasonally adjusted basis, and the number of job cuts announced by American companies declined sharply, according to two reports.
ADP Inc., a payroll services company that estimated the April job growth rate vs. the previous month, also revised its estimated change in employment in March to an increase of 19,000 jobs from a decline of 23,000 jobs and revised its estimate for February to show a gain of 3,000 jobs. Thus, employment has increased for three straight months, albeit only modestly.
ADP's national employment report does not include federal hiring for the 2010 Census, so ADP expects the Bureau of Labor Statistics' employment situation report Friday will show stronger job growth...
