China will commission 2-3 million of aluminium capacity this year and prices will be well supported by rising costs, said Wen Xianjun, vice-director of the aluminium department at China Nonferrous Metals Industry Assn.
China had 20.62 million tonnes of aluminium capacity at the end of 2009, Wen said at the 2010 Copper and Aluminium Summit held by Shanghai Nonferrous Metals Industry Assn in Shanghai.
"The commissioning timetable will depend greatly on energy supplies, such as electricity fees," he added.
China's electricity fees have been climbing in the past few months....
