Tonawanda Coke Corp. is facing $48,500 in proposed fines from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for 14 alleged serious violations of workplace health and safety standards at its Tonawanda, N.Y., foundry coke plant.
Citations include deficiencies involving the plant's respiratory protection program, use of personal protective equipment, industrial hygiene and coke oven operations, according to an OSHA statement.
