China's car production and sales each fell by about 10% from record highs in March to 1.56 million units in April after a robust first quarter.
Car production in April fell by 9.9% from March while sales fell by 10.4%, although they remained 35% and 34% higher year-on-year.
Demand for cars accounted for 5.6% of China's steel consumption in 2008, according to China Iron & Steel Assn.
Each passenger vehicle uses about 0.84 tonne of steel, and each commercial vehicle about 5.17...
