U.S. exports of nonferrous scrap surged in April to the highest level in five months, with nickel leading the way in gains on a percentage basis.
Nickel scrap exports of 3,990 short tons marked the highest quantity since August 2008, when the economic downturn was just beginning. The latest month's tally was more than triple the 1,097 tons shipped abroad the previous month and more than double the 1,492-ton total seen in April...
