(AMM) Rise in US steel exports stirs optimism for manufacturing

U.S. steel exports to developing countries nearly offset a decline in shipments to North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta) trading partners, and one group is optimistic that a rise in exports will lend support to American manufacturing sectors this year.
U.S. steel exports totaled 1,126,357 net tons in April, up 82.4 percent from 617,490 tons in the same month last year but down 2.1 percent from 1,150,879 tons in March, according to the latest data from the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS), Washington.
