China's alumina imports fell to a multi-year low of 140,000 tonnes in June in response to production cuts by aluminium smelters.

Alumina imports fell 69.7% from May to 140,000 tonnes in June, plunging 73.4% year-on-year, according to preliminary customs data. "This is due to expectations of lower alumina demand in the local market in June, as many local aluminium makers had planned production cuts for the month," said an analyst in Shanghai.
