China alumina imports fall on lower smelter demand

China’s alumina imports plunged in June 69% month-on-month and 73% year-on-year to 142,670 tonnes on market expectations of lower smelter demand.
The June alumina imports was the lowest in recent years, although it may not necessary indicate lower aluminium output later on in China, according to analysts.
