Global demand for No. 1 heavy melting steel scrap is showing improvement, with exports from U.S. docks in May reaching their highest level in eight months.
Exports of the cut grade totaled 514,411 tonnes in May, up 15.7 percent from 444,673 tonnes the previous month, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department, the highest level since September, when 529,382 tonnes were shipped abroad.
