Galaxy Resources has led the pack of lithium developers with its Mt Cattlin spodumene mine in Western Australia and its Jiangsu lithium carbonate plant in China. Managing director, Iggy Tan speaks with IM on the company’s progress as it closes in on production start-up

Iggy Tan: Galaxy’s Mt Cattlin project is on stream to commission the project by end of Q3 with the first shipment to China in Q4 2010. The lithium carbonate plant is forecast to be commissioned by end of Q4 2010.

For the lithium carbonate plant in Jiangsu, China, Galaxy recently received the Construction Permit from the Jiangsu Provincial Authorities. The EPCM provider, Hatch, is in the final stages of receiving construction and equipment tenders and once this process is completed, the construction plan and budget will be finalised.
