What business areas are you looking to develop at Mintek?

My background is process engineering with particular emphasis on bioleaching and the scale-up from laboratory scale to full industrial scale. I intend to develop the process engineering skills existing at Mintek to a point where we can deliver technologies proven at industrial scale. Mintek has developed many technologies that still need to be industrially proven, which could generate huge revenues once they have industry acceptance.

The Savmin water treatment process and testing of the MeTRIX resin in pulp technology serve to demonstrate this approach. The Savmin process was developed for the treatment of acid mine drainage and has been successfully demonstrated many times on various contaminated waters. High capital costs have hampered this development in the past. It is our collaboration with Veolia that will hopefully see a breakthrough in this regard.
