Doe Run Perú set to close after failing to restart La Oroya

Doe Run Perú is now subject to Peru’s mine closure law having failed to comply with law 29410, which last year gave it ten months to restart its La Oroya polymetallics smelter, the country’s mining ministry said.

Activities at La Oroya should have resumed on Tuesday July 27. The company also failed to present a series of documents proving it has assured financing and supply of ore concentrates and that it has concluded deals with its creditors.
