(AMM) US aluminum scrap exports reach 6-month high

U.S. exports of aluminum scrap hit a six-month high in May as shipments to most Asian buyers increased.

The monthly total of 177,972 short tons was up 11.5 percent from April, according to the latest data from the U.S. Commerce Department, the highest level since November last year, when U.S. suppliers shipped 180,801 tons abroad.

The figures for June and July will probably be similar or slightly lower than those for May, according to market sources.
