(AMM) Century Aluminum slices Iceland output estimate

Century Aluminum Co.'s Grundartangi smelter in Iceland will lose some 4,000 tonnes of primary aluminum production this year as a result of delayed transformer repairs.

The failed rectifier transformer was sent for repair in the first quarter and was originally expected to result in just 2,600 tonnes of lost output, a company spokesman told AMM, but damage that occurred during its return to Iceland has pushed that figure up to 4,000 tonnes.
