(AMM) Portland officials parcel out land intended for scrapyards

Officials in Portland, Maine, have parceled out the remaining acreage of a site bought several years ago as part their efforts to move two small scrapyards from an inner-city locale slated for commercial redevelopment.

The city's planning board has scheduled a public hearing and vote on the proposed subdivision on Sept. 14.

The city bought the 53-acre site along the Presumpscot River four years ago to serve as the new locations for New England Metal Recycling and E. Perry Iron & Metal Co.
