(AMM) Eleventh-hour agreement averts strike at Essar Steel Algoma

Essar Steel Algoma said Saturday it had ratified a collective agreement with United Steelworkers union Local 2724, which represents the Canadain steel producer's technical, professional and front-line management workers, averting a strike that would have been the first in two decades at the plant.

The four-year agreement comes into effect August 1, 2010 and allows for "responsible monetary improvements recognizing the important role our employees play while providing for certain changes...
