The appointment replaced Thiago Emanuel Rodrigues who was acting CFO following the death of  Maur’cio Lustosa de Castro in an aircraft accident in Venezuela in mid-2009.

Barbosa has held a number of positions within the finance industry at companies such as Citigroup and Santander Investments Securities Inc.

How is the market for steel refractories?

For 2010, the steel market is performing better than expected, as the global steel output has grown faster than forecast.

However, this recovery in steel production does not mean that the refractory industry has recovered at the same speed. The volumes have grown. But the refractory industry is suffering from increasing raw materials costs - eg. fused and dead burned magnesite prices. Most of these raw materials prices are more expensive than ever.
