Kazakhstan could remain the largest titanium sponge supplier to the United States through next year despite its move to downstream melting, according to the head of that country's only major producer.
Kazakhstan could remain the largest titanium sponge supplier to the United States through next year despite its move to downstream melting, according to the head of that country's only major producer.
However, Sylvain Gehler, chairman of Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium Magnesium Plant JSC (UKTMP), said its projected role in 2012 is a "question mark" as the Kazakh producer shifts a growing portion of its sponge output to its recently installed downstream melting operations.
