Last week Corus, the plants owner, said it had signed a MoU to sell the north-of-England facility to Thailands Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI).
A sales agreement is yet to emerge, but this is encouraging.
Corus should be congratulated for the progress it has made and for the effort it has expended in finding a solution for the site it has been a very difficult process.
