(AMM) ArcelorMittal Steelton wins ARRA grant

ArcelorMittal USA is in line to receive $800,000 in federal funding for the purchase and installation of a new reheat furnace at its Steelton, Pa., mill, according to the office of Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell.

The governor said the project is one of eight in the state to receive funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and one of 40 energy projects in Pennsylvania that will receive a total of $20.5 million in state and federal investment aimed at creating some 1,400 jobs in the clean energy industry.

A spokeswoman for Chicago-based ArcelorMittal USA acknowledged receipt of the federal funding, and said the company now is evaluating the specifications and requirements of the grant.
