(AMM) Alcoa recalls last of laid-off workers at Davenport Works

Alcoa Inc. has recalled an additional 24 workers to its Davenport (Iowa) Works as demand in the industrial products sector continues to improve.

"Production justifies the higher level of staffing. We're just recognizing the order load," a spokesman for the Pittsburgh-based aluminum company said, noting that staffing levels at the facility are now around 1,900.

He declined to comment on the plant's higher production levels.

The two dozen rehires, the last remaining union workers on layoff at the plant, mark the third round of recalls this summer. The rolled products...
