Sunoco Inc. has turned to a former automotive executive to head its SunCoke Energy Inc. unit.

Philadelphia-based Sunoco has named Frederick A. "Fritz" Henderson, former president and chief executive officer of General Motors Co., Detroit, as a senior vice president to help prepare for the separation of SunCoke Energy from Sunoco.
