Votorantim will boost nickel matte output by half in Brazil

Votorantim Metais (VM) is increasing nickel matte production at its Fortaleza de Minas plant in Brazil’s mid-western state of Goiás

“Production at the moment is around 14,000 tpy and in one or two years it will reach 20,000 tpy,” Valdecir Botassini, VM’s nickel director, said this week in an event in São Paulo, Brazil. Most of the plant’s nickel concentrate needs is supplied from third parties, with Australia’s Mirabela Nickel representing roughly 50% of the total volumes...
