Copper contract talks in US remain at standstill for 2012

U.S. copper contracts for 2012 have been slow to solidify during the December mating season, market participants told AMM.

"Copper is at a standstill. This year, for whatever reason, nobody wants copper," one trader said.

"We haven’t signed any deals at this point, but the expectation on the volume and premium side is things are going to look a lot like 2011," a second trader said.

So, here we go again. Another bank, another huge trade gone bad. This one doesn’t even appear to have been a case of rogue trading; a whole desk seems to have been operating with the full knowledge of the management and/or risk committee.
