Base metal prices continued to climb in kerb trading on the London Metal Exchange on Tuesday January 10, as hopes for an uptick grow, at least in the short term.
Tin prices closed at $20,275 per tonne, basis three months, compared with $19,800 per tonne on Monday, with a high for the day of $20,350.
“It’s all been performing quite well, and we’ve broken through quite a few technical points now,” a category I trader told Metal Bulletin.
“We’ve been expecting a few fireworks today and there seems to be a lot of talk about the reweighting of the funds. Volumes have been a bit higher, which can be attributed to that,” the trader added.
