Environmental agency approves BHP Billiton’s Port Hedland expansion

BHP Billiton’s proposed A$14 billion ($15.4 billion) expansion of its Port Hedland operations has been given the green light by Western Australia’s environmental protection agency.

In a report published on Monday January 23, the agency said it was “unlikely that its objectives would be compromised” by the miner’s outer harbour development, provided it complied with environmental recommendations. BHP Billiton said it welcomed the release...
