European secondary aluminium prices stay high on nearby demand

European secondary aluminium prices rose again on Friday January 27, but less sharply compared with last week, as demand for material remained firm.

Two prices edged higher on Friday: DIN226 pressure diecasting ingot climbed to €1,780-1,850 ($2,791-$2,900) per tonne from €1,750-1,820 previously; while mixed turnings increased to €1,080-1,180 from €1,050-1,180. “We’ve sold ingots this week at €1,790 at the lowest, and we’re paying for mixed turnings at €1,080. The week before, we were paying €1,030; it’s quite a lot,” one...
