Nucor to expand footprint with organic growth: exec

Nucor Corp. is keeping an eye on merger and acquisition opportunities but remains focused mostly on organic growth, according to the company’s top executive.
DiMicco said the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker remained "in tune" with M&A opportunities but the company was aiming first to expand its existing footprint, boost its value-added product mix and move more into raw materials, including energy.
International markets could be on the agenda as Nucor looks to grow, DiMicco said, noting that the Western Hemisphere and the Americas in particular could be the focus of such growth.
