Some market participants are already questioning the sustainability of an advance in selenium prices in the first week after Chinese New Year.
Suppliers are citing tight supply and an expected boost to demand as markets get in gear again after the holiday.
Metal Bulletin selenium prices in China increased by 45 yuan this week to 1,000-1,040 yuan per kg ($72-75per lb). Selenium dioxide prices inched up 30 yuan to 700-730 yuan per kg.
