The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure voted along party lines Thursday when it came to amendments during the markup of a proposed five-year, $260-billion transportation bill aimed at providing longer-term funding for construction projects vital to the steel industry.
"I’ve had contractors in my state tell me that they had to hold off on buying machinery and equipment because of the uncertainty. The long-term certainty is absolutely necessary," said U.S. Rep. Billy Long (R. Miss.).
