High-performance-alloys maker Haynes International Inc. posted lower-than-expected shipping volumes in its fiscal first quarter as a number of unplanned outages resulted in "unanticipated delays."
The alloy maker had warned in November that it expected quarterly shipping volumes to be down some 10 to 15 percent due to fewer shipping and production days over the holiday period (AMM, Nov. 21), but volumes fell further than anticipated due to planned and unplanned capital maintenance projects and related equipment outages, the company said.
