Ludlum backpedals on stainless price hike after NAS move

Allegheny Ludlum Corp. has revised its January price increase following a recent announcement by North American Stainless Inc. (NAS) that it would raise prices for only some flat-rolled stainless products.
Ludlum also said it would raise prices on emissions control alloys and bright anneal finishes by 4 cents per pound and increase precision rolled strip prices by 5 percent to 12 percent.
Ghent, Ky.-based NAS announced on Jan. 27 that it would only raise prices for its 201, 301 and 430 grades effective with March 1 shipments (AMM, Jan. 30).
