Norilsk Nickel would consider supplying nickel to a Chinese physically-backed exchange-traded fund (ETF), director of international production assets Roman Panov told Metal Bulletin on the sidelines of the Mining Indaba in Cape Town.
The nickel market has been anticipating the potential launch of a physically-backed Chinese ETF, but no concrete plans have been announced.
Norilsk already supplies nickel to the Chinese market at competitive levels and would not rule out providing material for such a fund, Panov told Metal Bulletin.
