LME members force rethink on introduction of fee, short-dated carries may be excluded

Members of the London Metal Exchange expect the introduction of a new user fee will be delayed until further consultation on the issue has taken place, sources told Metal Bulletin.
The LME will discuss matters relating to its plan for a new exchange user fee at a board discussion later this month, it said after a meeting with members on Tuesday.
“I think the rise is going to be postponed. That was my impression after the meeting,” a senior executive of one LME member said, echoing what others said after the meeting.
“The board came there saying they wanted to listen to feedback, and now they will take on the feedback regarding the timing, the size of the rise and the fact that there may be a need for further consultation with members before any implementation,” he said.
