Indian pipe maker Welspun Corp. Ltd. plans to open its new electric-resistance welded (ERW) pipe mill in the United States by year-end, a company executive said Monday.
Small-diameter line pipe is used to make gathering systems that collect oil and natural gas from wells and transport it to bigger intrastate or interstate pipelines. Gathering systems from shale plays will likely account for much of the growth in pipeline construction activity in coming years, he said.
