US silicon prices slip due to Brazilian imports

Silicon prices have eased slightly as Brazilian imports entering the U.S. market create an oversupply, sources told AMM.

Globe called the temporary shutdowns normal outages that allowed the company to perform routine maintenance, but market players speculated the shutdowns also served to keep supply in check.

"They may call it maintenance outages, but it has to do with supply and demand," one source told AMM. "They’re trying to create tightness in the market."

However, that recent market tightness could be coming to an end, given the volumes of Brazilian silicon...
