Russia’s new car sales up 20% in January

Russia’s sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in January were up by 20% year-on-year, the Assn of European Businesses (AEB) said on Wednesday February 8.

Russian steelmakers expect the construction of new automobile- and component-producing plants by international carmakers, lured by strong growth prospects, to be one of the key drivers of domestic steel demand in the next few years. Russia’s new-car sales grew by 26,149 units to 154,406 vehicles in January, the AEB said.
