Vietnam’s long product consumption halves in January

Vietnam's apparent consumption of long steel fell 50% month-on-month in January due to the long Chinese New Year holiday, according to the Vietnam Steel Assn (VSA).
Consumption of long products reached 234,000 tonnes in January, down from 414,000 tonnes in December last year, and down 56% year-on-year.
“The fall in consumption was largely due to the long Chinese New Year holiday last month. Effectively, there were only 15 official business days in January,” VSA general secretary Dinh Huy Tam said.
